Scout and Guide Fellowship Ghana (SGF) observes 2020 Founders’ Day

Scout and Guide Fellowship Ghana (SGF-GH) has made a rousing call for the membership of the group to lead the charge towards peace and development.

The call was made by National President of the Fellowship in a speech read on his behalf as the Ghana chapter joined the rest of the world to mark the Founder’s day.

The Founder’s day is being observed on the 22nd February every year to celebrate the birthday of the pioneer of Scouting Robert Baden Powell.

This year’s celebration coincides with the World Thinking Day of Girls Guides. 

In a speech read on his behalf by the Chairman for Africa Region of the International Scout Guide Fellowship ISGF, Commissioner Iddriss Hussain at a ceremony to mark the two significant events, National President of Scout Guide Fellowship Ghana Mr. Prosper Bani underscored the need for various Scouts to come together to promote peace and development in the country.

He said Scout and Guide Fellowship Ghana is committed to working with other groups, especially the Ghana Scout Association and the Ghana Girl Guide Association in cordiality and peace to attain the goals of scouting and the well-being of mankind and the universe. 

“This was part of the our main agenda as new administration, we promised to create a peaceful coexistence, as a result of constant engagement with the Scout and Girl Guides, dialogue and attending programs together, I can confidently say that we have made progress since we took over a year ago, with the help of each of you. Today we have decided to jointly celebrate the Founders Day and World Thinking Day together to mark our friendship and also to send a message to the other parts of the world, where there are existing conflicts between individuals and organizations that, Ghana has risen above those challenges and want to encourage everyone to find a common ground for peace.”

The day was attended by various groups as well senior commissioners across the country.

The World Thinking Day by the Girl Guides was under the theme “Living Thread – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion”.
