PEACE PROJECT 2016

Ghana as a constitutionally Democratic country since 1992 has held several elections successfully and power has changed hands from different governments. Remarkable fate the country chocked was in 2012, when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) took an election partition to the Ghanaian Supreme Court, praying it to overturn the results and declare the elections null and void.

The Supreme Court of the land, after about 9 months of seating, dismissed the case and upheld the declaration of the Electoral Commission as valid; hence His Excellency John Dramani Mahama became president of Ghana in the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

This brought serious misunderstanding between supporters of the president’s party (NDC) and that of the opposition (NPP) who had. Even though the leadership of both parties openly condemned the misunderstanding and called for a united nation, there were isolated clashes and fighting amongst the supporters nationwide.
